Beach Bum Workout is an excellent, targeted workout perfect for those with low and intermediate levels of fitness. Jackie Diss, well-know fitness instructor, and her two comrades help you to choose from four ten-minute workouts that mixes calorie burning cardio with conditioning exercises. Jackie has a less intense demeanor than some of the more in-your-face instructors--some people will like that, but others won't. Likewise, the music isn't as pounding as some of the club and dance DVDs out there, so keep your tastes in mind when considering purchase.
The exercises include lots of spot toning exercises to shape your body, mixed with bouts of cardio work to keep your heart rate up and keep you burning calories. Jackie's two comrades throughout do variations on the exercises--one does a low intensity version, and the other does a more advanced workout. Unlike many fitness DVDs, these exercises are designed so they can be done in a small space--useful if you're working out in a cramped flat between the coffee table and the armchair!
The location for the Beach Bum Workout is, of course, a white, sandy beach, which can be a great motivator if you're in the doldrums of winter trying to get fit for bikini season.
Content: There is are 10 minute warm-ups and cool-downs, and then the actual workout is modular, divided into four 10-minute sections. Each focuses on a specific region--bums, tums, arms, or legs.
There are also plenty of extras on healthy eating tips as well as practical advice on choosing swimsuits that flatter your body shape and be more confident on the beach. Some fitness DVD extras are naff, but these ones are actually pretty good, and support the whole get your bum ready for the beach concept.
